3 gun shotgun?

What I mean is that shooting the gun dry does not make you slower. Loading x number of rounds takes x amount of time. One could argue that loading from empty to full is more efficient than breaking the mount to load 2 or 4 then remounting. If you've already broke your mount and are loading(on the shoulder or off) then you're already setup to stuff rounds. Stuffing 8 rounds at the same time requires you to break the mount once. Stopping to top off every 2 or 3 or 4 rounds requires you to break the mount more than once which is wasted movement and time. This can come back to bite you if you're stuffing a full tube for the last two targets. That makes no sense.

Go back and read my post again...I didn't say that shooting the gun dry makes you slower. You might be right if you had to shoot all of your targets from a box. Most stages require movement and multiple firing positions though....so the correct answer for how to load is: whatever is most efficient for the stage. Nobody said anything about stopping....

Same difference. Walk slow and reload or sprint to the next shooting box and reload there. Six in one, half dozen the other.

I like it when shooters have this mentality, makes it so I don't have to train as much, thanks!

And it shows.
You're so rusty you didn't even show up to the L3 last weekend for fear of getting your ass handed to you.

"But, but I was out of town..."
Whatever.

If your stage plan is to shoot until empty, reload and shoot some more, you should reconsider that plan.

Lol...which platform do you want me to run at the next Crumlin match....seeing as you seem to be throwing down the gauntlet

What, at your own match?
I've heard you've been practising your stages for the past 6 months to try and ensure a win.

Is my match saver too close to the port?

I'd say so, after having to manually extract shells I'd say that's too close. I'd want to be able to get my hand inside the port/carrier without hitting the match saver.

I usually set my matchsaver with the shell's rim behind the kydex/plastic, so that would mean the shell would sit farther back by 8mm or so.

I think so

At a minimum I’d say you want at least 3” between the bolt and the leading edge of the match saver. If your reload is less than perfect, a shell can get jammed in that gap

Three INCHES?? I don't think I've ever seen a match saver 3" away from the front of the ejection port...

Do you mean if I hit the bolt release early and the shell jams between bolt handle and matchsaver? If so, wouldn't I be in the same position regardless and have to work the bolt handle?

Not really, if the shell gets jammed, it has to be cleared. But if the shell drops to the ground instead you can simple load 2, rack and shoot

It might be roughly the same time either way, but I know I had more trouble when the match saver was too close.

Like Adam, I also don’t put the rim of the shell in the match saver.
