3 inch slug loads

Max pressure is the same for 2-3/4" and 3" and you can easily reach (or surpass if not too careful) max pressure in a 2-3/4" hull. Loading 3" hulls with slugs just means more spacers/thicker wads.

This↑↑↑↑↑↑ Lee slugs are made to be used with trap load components for cost efficiency and that works just fine.3" with those is pointless. The Lyman shotshell manual has 3" slug loads for 1 oz foster and 1 1/4 oz sabot slugs.Still the main difference between 2 3/4 and 3" loadings is wad and or spacer height. Not velocity or energy. The only reason to go 3" that I can see is happening to have a huge supply of 3" cases. It may be tough to find data for 3" hulls and Lee slugs. And of course hulls are not interchangeable though they may look exactly the same on the outside.

A stout load ot relatively slow powder behind a slug in 2 3/4 can certainly have the effect of killing on one end of the gun and maiming on the other.A real filling rattler. The loads using relatively faster powders (trap load performance) are downright pleasant in comparison.
