3" Magnum ammo in 3" chamber?

I have a Cooey 840 that i usually use 3 inch heavy field loads in but the other day i saw a box of 3 inch magnum upland loads and was wondering if it was safe to try these out?

3" is 3", the magnum really doesn't mean anything.

You can also use 2 3/4" loads, which out of a Cooey, would be much more palatable to shoot.

Interesting the gun is chambered for 3" and the Ammo says 3" what could possibly be in doubt . ?

I think he was uncertain about shooting them because he didn't know if there was much difference between his heavy field loads and these because these are marked "magnum". I think he figured because they are marked magnum they would be too much for his gun.

For sure. Probably thinking along the lines of that whole .38 special +p thing how it's just the load that differs. Magnum in the shot shell case is marketing, like condoms, lol!
