So in the last two days I've bought a Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 Express Super Magnum. In addition to my Winchester Model 12, does this finally mean I'm done with pump shotguns? Are there any other ones that I should know about? I'm pretty sure I got a couple of good deals in there. All three are in good to excellent shape. In total I paid $600. Not to shabby in my opinion.

Great deal but did you get a 410?28?16?:D

Nope all of them are 12 gauge. Although I would enjoy a single barrel .410 someday. I just don't see much need for anything other than 12 gauge. I'm pretty surgical with them.

An Ithaca m37..

longest running pump shotgun in the world.

beautiful guns too.

I'm not too sure about Ithaca's. For some reason they don't really say much to me. Maybe because I didn't grow up with them..... Who knows if a cheap one comes up tomorrow I may just buy it.

And the original 870 Wingmaster something about 30years old.

Yeah, but I figured the express would be close enough. I'm not rich enough to have one in every caliber and model.

ithacas are a very good price. you can pick one up in good shape for as little as $175.00. i'm not really sure why they don't hold their value, because there's nothing wrong with their quality. they were a well made gun right to the end.

Pump Shotguns

The first three examples of good, solid, venerable pumps that come to my mind are:
Remington 870 Wingmaster
Winchester Model 12
Ithaca Model 37
I have owned fine examples of these shotguns over the years and never been let down by any of them.

Cheers

Stuckon308, I was referring to the age range of an 870 that I would buy and am soon to be looking for. I am well aware they are older than that. I bought my first 870 in 1964 and they had been available for some time. I am just saying if I was going to get an 870 it would have to be about that old for me to be interested. Tough guns. My brother had a Model 12 Winnie that the mag tube would go out of round and was replaced twice that I know of. Got sold anyways. Shoulda kept my original 870. Oh well, lots out there.

On the ranges that I hang out at, there is only ONE choice for a pump 12 gauge!!

I think u must have a 870 wingmaster in 12 & 20,a couple Ithicas, and a CIL. (I can help you find these quick) also you need to try some autos,an o/u ,sxs and any others I can find for sale :) good luck & injoy what you have! there is lots of time to add & lots to look at. AJ

In my circle of friends, the 870 is the most common, then the BPS, then the Nova. I have a Defender, Wingmaster and Nova. Nova gets the nod from me.
