3 questions for coyote hunter

If you want pelts, I would say 223 bolt action. Maybe something in 22-250 or 220 swift, but probably 223 because of cheap practice ammo.

For best package, we need a price range before we can say that. But for something cheap, I love my Savage Axis XP (mines in 270 but whatever.)

Scope-wise, anything. More money will get you a better scope, for sure, but a $75 3-9x40 scope will still get the job done. Or you could spend $2000+ on something with target turrets, a fancy reticle, expensive glass, ect ect. it all depends on budget...

I use a 25/06 with 75 gr Vmax in a Stevens 200 with a barska 6-24 power scope. Works for me. May not be exactly fur friendly most of the time but it works

A budget would help narrow down your questions, but to generalize

1 - Everthing from 17Fireball to .270Win and beyond has been used for Coyotes. Most common are .204R, .223, 22-250 and .243Win. Any of these Cals can and will make a mess of a 40-45lb 'Yote if they are not hit square or you use frangible bullets like Hornadys's VMax. Most make the common mistake of aiming high on the shoulder like Deer or Moose, when you really need to focus a little lower in the rib cage where the heart/lungs actually reside.

Are going factory loads or reloading?

2 - Thiis will be based on your hunting area. Some guys use simple 3-9x40, others out West require 6.5-24x50 for those 300yrd + shots out in the open. If your just under the 250yrd realm a 3-9 or 4-12 is ample. Get a simple cross-hair reticle, no need for ballistic/drop compensators in this game. If you remember this rule of thumb "just hold fur" the further out he is you should have no need for a busy ballistic style reticle.

3 - Savage Axis packages are hard to ignore given their price point. A simple stock swap to a Boyds of your choice and/or a Scope change in the off-season will improve it. The beauty of that is your still under for the cost of a Rem/Tikka/Mossberg rifle before optics. I've heard some have had issues with the 11/111 International Packages but the 11 Predator Hunter looks like their older 10 Predator Brush series which is now discontinued & I haven't seen a bad write up of them as of yet.

Bottom line after all the above?

Savage Axis or 11 Predator packages in .223Rem, 55gr whatevers. Keeps your cost low, then get out see if you like the game and upgrade from there.

If ya got the bucks.Tikka T3 HB .223 with a Sightron scope rounds it off nicely.I find my T3 a bit front heavy, but what a Coyote driver.Just a suggestion,Good luck.

The most fun coyote gun I have ever used/owned is a Robinson Arms XCR-L in 223.

If you are just starting out any cartridge from 2o4 Ruger - 243 will do an excellent job.

I started with 110gr Sierra HP's in my old Ruger M77 tang safety 30-06 next was a Ruger tang safety that was in 308 Win that I had rebarreled to 22-250 loaded with 55gr Sierra spitzers.

I now also really like single shots T/C Contender carbines have barrels in 204 Ruger/223/6.8SPC

How are you hunting coyotes? Calling, running hounds, or group drives? If calling + 1 for the .22-250 with a good quality 4-12 scope or .243 with same scope. If running with hounds..... Shotguns work well or light caliber Rifle with a clip and short barrel. You will be on the move a lot, in and out if vehicles. If group drives pretty much the same as running hounds.
Semis and levers can have a place when hounds are used, as most opportunities will be moving targets and coyotes are smart they can figure out how far shotguns DONT shoot really fast. Trust me I know from experience.
Pkg guns, try the axis Xp, the savage 11 trophy, the rugger american, TC venture. Marlin xl7 or the vanguards... I could a missed some.
Oh ya scopes for hound hunts and group drives . Stick to low power options 3x9 or 2x7 a wide field of view It is easier to pick up a running coyote in the glass. Stay away from BDC reticle unless you are calling! Std reticle keeps it simple on moving targets....less to think about, just worry about beyond the target and hitting it!

I bought mine for coyote im wondering what fit best for that hunting since im new to that. Those are simple question im asking to people who know more than me

Its a really broad question. There are so many options - many of them perfectly suitable, and some of them dependent on where you are hunting - that the question becomes difficult to answer sensibly without more details.

I have two coyotee rifles
One remington heavy barreled 700 in 223 with a 4-12x50 on it
One HK sl8 223 with a similar scope on it.

Remington is excellent for long range dawg hunting and i havent got around to doing any
Long range stuff with the HK yet.

Ammo relatively cheap but all depends on what you buy and
How much destruction you want to inflict.
These set ups suit ne and i am relatively new to hunting yotees.

A good hand call is the orange coloured ruffi dawg, well it works for me
Unless you go down the route of e-callers and then how much money
Have you got

There is few on here who shoot the 243 for yotees
The list is endless and how deep are your pockets

My point was more to start a discussion with coyote hunter and what you guys think etc

Let's start here. Will you be calling in coyotes? Or maybe a group hunt chasing them with dogs or maybe just 6-8 buddies walking blocks of cover moving coyotes to blockers? Also if you have a firearm what might it be?

I bought mine... Just wondering about opinion from people who know more than me about that hunt . No offend if i havent take your offer

It is not about any offer... but if you were not in such an all-fired rush on the EE, and took the time for clear communication, maybe you wouldn't have to start another thread saying that you were defrauded by a fellow CGNer... whoever the other party may be.
