I have a M&P15 and want another AR. So i will have two complete AR's, but S&W does not make a 10.5 barrel so i have to swap one in and was thinking of a RRA barrel. As a seperate note the AR that I have I was thinking of upgrading it to a RRA barrel, so my questions are:

1. Will a RRA barrel fit on a M&P?

2. What is the quality of the RRA barrel like?

3. What could i sell the old stock barrels for?

Why don't you just put the upper on the lower that you want to make the gun that you want?

Why must you switch barrels in the upper receivers?

so that at the end of the process i have to full guns and not a mass collection of extra ports, i could have a backup upper, but used to have the simular system for computers, one running and some backup or alternate parts and they just got to be a hassle i found.

Do what you want. I don't think you understand. You'll have three things at the end, the lower off your M&P, the upper from your M&P and a new upper with whatever length barrel you want...

i would be using the stock rifle as i bought it munis the shorter barrel, i would then sell the stock un fired barrel to get some money back, my other m&P is already complete, but i am considering upgrading the barrel to a RRA and selling the stock barrel from that.

the barrel swap would be a onetime thing. think of it as getting a gun with the wrong barrel and puting in a permanemnt different one.

sorry for the confusions.

Well, to buy the tools to do a barrel swap is going to cost you an easy $100 (worth it though). Barrels are pretty much a universal fit on AR's and you can get a 10.5" 1/9 twist, button rifled barrel, starting at about $300. Dlask doesn't advertise it, but they just made me a 12.5" stainless barrel from a Lothar Walter blank for $320 delivered. You could likely get about $200 for the used barrel you want to get rid of.

thanks, gonna order the new M&P soon and get the barrel on the way when the money is avalible. Do i have to worry about the gas system on the storter barrel, ie not having enough power to cycle?

That really depends, as it can be hit and miss....you won't know until you shoot it, and then there are some easy solutions to get it up and going.
