3 week "verification" after printing RPAL?

Still nothing

Well it is almost two weeks since my license was mailed out to me. I understand there is quite a backlog at Canada Post. Since they have returned to work I have noticed something strange. I have received exactly three pieces of mail everyday. No more, no less. I think that is strange. Oh well, I have an M&P 40 Pro on order and have placed a deposit on a Stoeger M2000. I even ordered a bunch of those 10rd Pistol mags for an AR. I am now a member at Guelph Gun and Rod as well. All I need is my license!!!!!!!

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, how did you contact the folks at GRGC? I emailed them a week or two ago asking to come see the facilities before I sign up, but no one has responded.

They only have one email address on their site and no phone number, so I'm just curious if they are just ignoring me or if they just only check it every couple weeks.

Or perhaps there is a secret phone number? :D

Cheers

I asked her about the 3 weeks thing. And she said there is no such thing only the 28 days waiting period. Unless it's the CFC doing it without the CFO knowing.

She took the time to answer all of my questions since i am new to this sport.

Thanks to 93GTCANADA. I believe the above confirms that there is no extra three waiting weeks.

Cheers,

Canada Post still f*&king with us

Yup, it seems that the extended wait we are all experiencing is strictly due to the backlog of mail at Canada Post. Again today, I received three pieces of mail. Tomorrow will be two weeks since the CFC mailed my new license. I will call them when the after the mail comes in the morning and my license is not there ( I should have a more positive attitude). I suspect there is nothing they can do anyways.

i also suspect it is canada post. from what i have been hearing the backlog should of been cleared by now but they are stretching it maybe since they got forced back to work I don't know.

Submitted all my RPAL stuff, all my references called, my status says this for the last two weeks:

"Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)"

So I called them, as instructed by the status... they told me that the licence was printed on the 6th, but that there is post-printing verification before they mail it that usually takes 3 weeks. Has anyone else heard of this? Why would they print up a licence and then do "verification" afterword?

Are they talking about some Ontario provincial thing?

OK, I started this thread, and finally have found out what is happening.

When I called (as stated in my original post), the woman who I spoke to insisted there was a new additional 3 week period after the licence is printed but before they mail it out, where they verify the information on the licence. I was skeptical (because I didn't read about it on the ultimate source of knowledge, CanadianGunNutz.com :) ), but the person on the phone insisted that it was a new procedure and was in fact true.

I called yesterday to the CFO, and the woman I talked to had no idea about any sort of 3 week period after the licence is printed or any new procedure, said that my licence had most likely been mailed out, and any delays where most likely caused by the Canada Post strike. She had no idea why anyone would have told me there was a new procedure, because there is nothing of the sort.

Today I received the licence in the mail. From what I see on the postmark, it was mailed within 24 hours of when my status was updated online. The delay was most certainly caused by Canada Post, and not any new procedure.

So, as far as I can tell, there is someone at the CFO who is telling people wrong information.

That is not uncommon from any of the CFOs or the CFC

After reading your post I noticed that I have gotten only one piece of mail everyday since the strike has been finished.
