3 week "verification" after printing RPAL?

Submitted all my RPAL stuff, all my references called, my status says this for the last two weeks:

"Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)"

So I called them, as instructed by the status... they told me that the licence was printed on the 6th, but that there is post-printing verification before they mail it that usually takes 3 weeks. Has anyone else heard of this? Why would they print up a licence and then do "verification" afterword?

Are they talking about some Ontario provincial thing?

I've never heard of that. I'm in Ottawa (ON) and I received it some four or five days after it (new RPAL) was issued.

I got the same it's been issued and call if you don't get it in 2 weeks message online when I checked my status on July 1st and I called them to ask if I could pay for fedex or ups to deliver my licence to me and they said they will get back to me. I called a week later and a "team leader" told me that my licence went out in regular mail two days after I had originally called.

No one ever said anything about an extra verification period, but it's been over 2 weeks already and I still haven't received it yet because of the Canada post strike.

I seem to be caught in the same thing, license issued weeks ago, nothing in the mail. Repeated calls to the firearms center get me the same thing, "its issued, it will be sent to you."

Lucky I don't need this thing for a job or something, and truly if you have a immediate need for the license, add another month to how long you think it will take.

Same here

Hello, I am in the same situation. July 7th my license was issued. It has been over a week and I have not received it yet. Does it take a week for a letter to go from Mirimachi to Mississauga? I will call this week and see what the hold up is. I so tired of all the stalling tactics whether it is the CFC or the Ontario CFO.

My license was printed at the end of June and I still haven't received it. Luckily I called the Ontario CFO office and got my number which will let you order online. Most places wont take just the number in the actual store which I find totally pointless. I got my friend to buy a rifle I wanted and then we left the store and called the CFO and transferred it into my name in the parking lot with just the number. What a waste of resources.

So if you're doing a person to person transfer all you need is the PAL #?
whats the CFO # to call to get your Pal #?
I put a deposit on a handgun with a guy and ive been waiting for my PAL to arrive so we can start the transfer. Figure if i can start it right now maybe ill get it by the time the transfer goes through the CFO office.

I received my PAL in the mail today, it was issued July 1st and in my mailbox July 20th. I'm sure you will all be getting yours soon!

I hope you're waiting for a RPAL, otherwise you'll be waiting a long time to buy a handgun with a PAL......;) Normally they won't give you the number over the phone, so you'd have to wait until it's in your hands, but there's been the odd case where they have done it.

OK.. based on the limited information available about this so far.. for ANYONE told this load of BS post it here.. and be sure to read this:

http://www.nfa.ca/node/180

The 28 days is law.. can't do anything about it.. but if this is some sort of moronic "policy" then yes that can and MUST be fought.

Also note.. that any such BS would be directly aimed ad delaying anyone new.. etc etc since those w/a license already should know better. There is nothing within the FA to allow this and in effect if it is true they are intentionally targeting newbs whom mostly don't know any better. This is all the more reason for evidence to be gathered NOW and a collective sjmak to their nose be delivered (so to speak)

Hey guys...My Pal/Rpal was approved and allegedly sent out some time around June 27 according to the RCMP web site... I called after the two weeks and was told that my card had been mailed out...I'm now into my 3rd week since the approval...I haven't received mine yet...I work at Canada Post and yes there is a backlog, up to two to three weeks...And let me tell you that management could care less...They keep spinning the story in the media that they've caught up however there is still a ton of mail in Toronto...I'm in Northern Ontario and this evening we were offered overtime, which is rare at CP so you know they're still trying to get rid of the backlog....I'm as ticked off as anybody else...Hopefully this week. Hang in there if you're waiting...The employees are doing their best...Anybody who thinks that letter mail is a thing of the past is mistaken..

Another question, what precautions does the CFO or RCMP take if someone happens to steal mail that has Pal/RPals in them?? I mean if someone steals your card and tries to buy a firearm what is preventing them from using your identity. It wouldn't be the first time that mail or ID's have been stolen...
