30-06 180gr or 200gr for large game

If I was tasked with picking one bullet to load in a 30-06 that could hunt near and far and from the left coast to the right coast and include enough practice to turn that barrel into a tomato steak, 180gr interlock FB.
 
Remember folks, the 30-01, then 30-03 that quickly evolved into the 30-06, was designed with the intentions of shooting 220 grain, round nose, flat base bullets, with a 1-10 twist bore, at 2300fps.

Around 1905, the powers that be decided to look into the new German innovation of using 154 grain, Spitzer flat base bullets, by introducing their own 150 grain Spitzer flat base bullets, using a slightly shorter case, and cooler propellants to around 2500fps, but please correct if my memory fails.

Other than machine gun ammunition, they've pretty much settled on that weight with various design changes, which were allowable because of the relatively tight twist rate.

I've seen several 30-06 rifles over the past decade with 1-12 and a few 1-15 twist rates.

When you have a desire to use long heavy bullets, be careful to check your twist rate.
