I guess my lack of writing skills clouded my point .

I stacked some more 30-06 from SFRC on sale this weekend and while browsing the choices available someone walked by and asked how I knew which one to buy and if it was good for Moose seeing as most said Deer, Elk,Bear on the box.

They questioned why I just didn't by the $37 ammo and why I opted for the $59 ammo.

Made me really think that actual in school classes to learn about this type if stuff might be a good thing

It should be easier for new hunters to make a choice.

Perhaps you should contact the manufacturers and ask them to include pictures on the box...

Just use whatever 30-06 ammo that shoots well in your rifle, seeing as moose have been killed for decades with 30-30 and .308 any 30-06 will do it as well. Provided it’s got an appropriate bullet and you can put it in the vitals.

What picture is on the box is irrelevant.

Another one that did not read what the thread was about.
The whole point was discussing how to educate newer hunters on the finer points of ammunition selection for various applications.

I feel like an average 180-grain soft point at 150 yards would be adequate for an ethical kill on a Moose, provided shot placement is correct.
Why can I not find any 30-06 ammunition packages with a picture of a Moose or the word Moose.
I see plenty with Deer, Elk, Bear...but no Moose.
Is there a reason or that.

Is 30-06 not suggested for Moose any longer ?

Do we need a 300 Win. Mag now after all these years ?

Within this thread information about various cartridges suitable for moose hunting were mentioned

Those are questions to ask the manufacturers

Those are really stupid questions.

Oh I read it, you should be more direct if you have a specific question to ask. Laugh2

Maybe you should’ve educated the guy instead, would’ve saved yourself the time and reply’s here.
