150 gr.in the 30-06 has been my choice for my type of shooting for the last 30 years. A couple of years ago I decided to try Hornady sst instead of the Sierra gk.that I had been using.
The results were very impressive ( best 5 shot group during testing 1 5/8 @ 200 yds.)
I also like IMR 4350 and use it almost exclusively in the 06. My rifle is a mod 70 Win.Sportster with a 24 in bbl.
Because it is over the high end in most of my manuals I can not list the charge weight here,it is safe and shows no pressure signs in my rifle.(the load was shown as a recommended accuracy load in an old Lyman manual)
In passing this is not a slur on Sierra, with the success of the 06 experiment I decided to go the same route with my .270 Win.FWT. Changing from Sierra to Hornady (130 gr.) changed the 100 yd groups from <1 in. to over 4.5 in.
Proving only that each rifle is a game of its own.
