Perhaps a moderator might move this to "Precision Rifles" or "Reloading", or perhaps not. No real harm done.
With respect to your question, pretty much any bullet should work OK at 300 yards. If boattail match bullets shoot well in your rifle, they'll certainly work. Oftentimes flat-based bullets are more accurate in factory rifles, they are less sensitive to any imperfection's in the barrel's crown (muzzle). If they shoot well for you at 100 yards, go right ahead and use a 150 or 180 flatbase hunting bullet at 300.
Personally I find a .30-06 in a hunting-weight rifle to require a fair bit of concentration to shoot well (read: blast and recoil, and I have to work *hard* to shoot without flinching). If you have any 110 or 125 grain bullets that shoot accurately for you, they would be a good choice.
A fun thing about shooting at 300 yards, especially if you are watching a buddy shoot, is that the bullet's time of flight is perceptible. When the rifle goes bang, there's a definitely noticeable delay before you see a puff of dust or dirt behind your target.

"...for fun shooting..." Any bullet will do for that. It's not a bad idea to practice with your hunting load. Or a Hornady 150 grain fmjbt. For match shooting, use a 168 grain match bullet. IMR4064 gives great accuracy with those.
Correct - competition shooting out to 1000yds/900m is a central focus here. 300m is generally the minimum distance considered for competition purposes.
The original question is better suited to the reloading forum. For 300m, I'm sure that any .30 cal bullet will suit your needs, so now we need to address your action/barrel & shooting needs. What do you have and what do you want to do??
