30-06 for brown bears

^ and young black bears regularly stalk people

A friend of mine got mauled by a black bear a few years ago, maybe he should have told it that it wasn’t an apex predator when it was munching on his skull

It's the exceptions to the rules that make Life interesting. :)

Respect and knowledge together go a long way

Anyone who isn’t afraid when a grizzly is popping and huffing at them is a lunatic, anyone who is afraid of the idea of bears should work in an office and take up knitting

I’m told that one in twenty black bears will attack for no apparent reason.

That is fake news... it is far fewer than that, and the "attack" is usually a bluff charge or simple curiosity and also mistaken identity, when someone is mistaken for another bear and bluff charged. Many bears are shot by people who "think" they are in danger, due to a lack of understanding in bear behavior... not that I am judging anyone's threshold for their personal safety zone... but it is something I have witnessed a number of times from clients.

Bella Twin in 1953 harvested a record grizzly with a humble .22lr, I think the 30-06 will be ok. Shot placement is the key, though some extra energy is nice to have.

Speaking of witch I need to practice some more.

(No, I don’t think you should be shooting grizzly with .22lr)

A relative of mine. :D
My dad said that the bear was stalking her for quite some time and was characteristic of a predatory bear that calmly stalks you to try to cause a reaction. She said "he was getting too close". I believe she shot him in the eye or nasal cavity? The bullet went into the brain.

The thing about the white bears is that they really don't bluff , they will stomp their feet and bounce a few steps to wards you but any more than that and he's coming. Although
sometimes you never know what their thinking. this is looking from my house to the shop , so at night I see that there is a light on in the shop. $hit I grab my handgun head out to turn it off. Walk past the 2 buses and from between the second bus and the white truck out walks a bear. All I had to do was stretch out my arm and the muzzle of my 4" Redhawk would be touching his fur. I did not raise my arm. He looked over his shoulder at me curled his lip a bit and walked away. When he was far enough away I went back to the house , said screw the light and had a large glass of scotch , and laughed. I have been caught a few times where if the bear wanted me he could have had me a
but not that close. Second pic is beside the shop.
