I haven't broke ground on my 9.3x62 "large forest dweller" project and the season is fast approaching. So I'm going with either a Remington 760 or FN98 Mauser deluxe. Both in 30-06. Won't have time to do up some loads so I'm looking for a good factory load. I will be shooting short range only. 200 yards tops.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I really like the Federal Premium 200gr TBBC (if you can find it). Moose are not the toughest thing out there, but a premium 180gr round would be my runner up. A Nosler Partition or Accubond factory load would fit the bill nicely.

A premium or Walmart in 150-180gr will do fine. People usually pick whatever shoots best in their rifle. If 200 yds is max, there is no reason no to go with a 180gr and sight in @150.

I thought a Nosler Partition was only to be hand loaded... that's what I would use personally. What manufacturer uses it in thier factory loads?

180 Partition (Nosler ammo, Federal Premium?) or 168 TTSX Vortex - should be able to find one of those in factory. I'd lean to the Vortex myself but it can be spendy.

My hunting partner is a .30-06 guy. I've see him dumped moose with 180 gr Grand Slams, Partition and TSX without any issues.

For moose, especially under 200, any of the big name, non premium 180's is more than adequate. Moose aren't hard to kill, and that load has killed more moose than anyone could count.

Yep, 180gr Core-Lock's available at most CTC stores and your good to go....

I have used 165 gr. Nosler Partitions in my 30-06 for moose for great success for 40 yrs. But I have cleaned far more moose than I have actually shot and usually my friends have used Remington 180 gr. Core-lokets. I have recovered many from moose and deer and they were always mushroomed over nice and did the intended job well.

Thanks for the input, guys! I chose the FN and sighted it in today with some Remington 150gr I had laying around. First time shooting it today and I'm impressed with the accuracy it can muster. Probably going with be cheapest 180gr ammo I can get. Looked at the ammo prices today. Holy crap!
