Anyone else loading this combo? I am curious as to what numbers you are getting.

I loaded up some and shot them over the Chronograph, I used the Hodgdon loads as Nosler does not list H4831 for their 200gr Partition.

The velocity is quick, 100fps over what the book says for the Accubond and there does not seem to be any flattening of primers, marks on the case or difficulty in opening the bolt. The groups were not great but it was damn windy so I will not consider that yet.

The cases are Winchester, the primers are WLR, I was told that these primers are harder than Federal so will not show pressure signs early, I just notice that there is still lots of round at the edges and no cratering.

The accuracy may be at the lower load, which with 55gr is still a 2520fps load with a 1.5in 5 shot group on a windy day, but at 58gr, just down from "max" the velocity is around 2716fps, which seems unreal, that group is 2.81in but with 3 rounds measuring 0.72in I think a wind gust or me is to blame for that.

I did not fine tune anything, just 1 grain increments from min to max, I always just split the range into 5 loadings of 5 shots then narrow in.

The sun popped out and my chronograph started to get a lot of errors but the 220gr load is also running faster than the book numbers, so this may just be a fast shooting rifle.

The gun is a Parker Hale sporter built on a 98 Mauser action. I did float the barrel.

I have my Dad's old P-H 30-06. I put some bore gauges through it, and it has one of the tightest 30 cal barrels I have ever seen on a sporter barrel....could be a factor. It was manufactured in the late 60's...

Optical chronographs can give 'iffy' readings, especially on a day that has sun and cloud, or if there is snow on the ground combined with the aforementioned.

I have two 200gn loads for a 30-06. One is a Nosler 200gn Accubond with H-414, 2690 ft/s, the other (different rifle) is a 200gn Nosler Partition with H-4350 for 2550 ft/s, both have 22" barrels.

Did you ever try H4831?

I plan on making a chronograph box, this is getting annoying, ha ha.

That would bump up the pressure for sure, but still no real pressure signs even up to 59gr, but that does not mean I want to run it up that fast, especially if it is not accurate.

I did some Quick Load modelling, anything over 56gns of H-4831 is over 60 000 psi and somewhat heavily compressed. H414, a ball powder, is close in burn rate as H 4831 and is dense, therefore charges are not compressed.

Your load of 59gns H 4831 runs just under 71 000 psi, the 55 gn load in the model runs 2520 ft/s should be near a node.

A 200gn bullet , especially the NAB and/or the NPT are devastating on moose/elk sized animals out to beyond 300m.

Inside of 300m you will not notice any significant difference between the 25xx ft/s load to that of one running near 2700 ft/s.

A rifle used strictly for hunting must put the first bullet right on the POA/POI, if the second one is close, great, if the 3rd one opens the group up to 1.5" you are already in trouble if an animal is the target.

I am loaded out to 3.34in, that is the longest that fits in the magazine and chambers. Even at 59gr, with no drop tube, I am not compressed. The Hodgdon load data says the Accubond will be a compressed load but the Accubond is longer by 0.14in, so it would make sense that gaining 0.18in inside the case would probably remove that compression.

There was definitely no compression with a 56 or 57gr load, you could hear the powder shaking around.

I am ok with the start load, my original plan was hoping to get 2550fps out of this, which will be devastating if I end up going on the bison hunt, but seeing essentially no pressure signs going up to 59 made me wonder what was going on.

What velocity does Quick load show as an accuracy node? Slightly faster or slightly slower? I don't have quickload, I wish I did, ha ha.

Download Gordon's Reloading Tool, it's free and works quite well.

I have loaded the 200 Partition in my 30-06, using H4931sc. I got to 58.0 grains, which showed 2690 avg in my rifle [24"]
However, accuracy left a bit to be desired. I switched over to Norma MRP, and at 58.5 grains, I show 2740 with groups
under an inch. So that has become my 200 Partition load. I have absolutely no excess pressure indications. Dave.
