30-06 heavy/target barrel?

any manufacturer makes their rifles in 30-06 with heavy/target barrel?
it looked like this caliber had such a great start up, but since rem 700 broke in to the sniping world it's seems it's been delegated into hunting rifles only
somebody educate me

Winchester used to, as did Rem. Easy enough to do your own, I've got one in a savage. - dan

sure, if you don't mind spending extra $500-800 on replacement barrel and gunsmith fees, not to mention 8 weeks + wait time, i would like to avoid all that if possible

Remington Long Range can be had in 30-06

Rem action 550 or so, there's a savage for less on the ee. Get a 308 heavy barrel 150-200, rechambered and fit, 200 or so, a stock will be anywhere from 100 to 1000 depending on what you want. - dan

thanks dan, i have not seen a .308 barrel for $150-200, the cheapest i've seen is $400+tax, wish i had tools to fit barrel myself but i can't see that happening this life time (i worked lathe when i was 15, actually found it very satisfying work)

Get a savage action and a prefit. You only need 2 tools then
