30-06 japan

The Japanese loaded millions of 30-06 rounds for the US and Koreans during the Korean War. Their WWII manufacturing facilities were mostly intact and of course their vicinity to the action was a huge benefit.

I don't think they loaded that particular stuff for their own use or it would likely have Japanese characters. Your ammo may be from that time period. No dates on the box???

I just googled the company and they did make ammunition from 1953 to 1958. They may still make it.

Toyo is now a huge conglomerate that makes everything from high tech equipment to Toyo vehicle tires. One of their subsidiaries likely still produces ammunition under a different name.

Unfortunately, no indication of any date. The weird thing is that these brass are empty, new cases, never been loaded, never fired, as if they manufactured the brass, shipped them, and were intended to be loaded somewhere in America........

You can see the annealing colours on them still, which I have seen on other military ammo and of course Lapua. Might be very good brass!! How many did you end up with?

All brass is annealed several times during its manufacturing, but typically only commercial brass is then polished after the final annealing in order to satisfy the consumer's "need" for shiny brass.

The extra expense of that makes no sense to the military user.

Was in a lot I bought and I'm not finished unpacking yet, but for now, only 1 box of 20 but it is like new. I know it is not worth a fortune but am intrigued anyways.... By the way, thanks for the info, I appreciate!
