.30-06 M2 Ball Canadian source?

American Eagle makes a 150gr load specifically for the M1, it is part #AE3006M1, I think. I have never seen it up here, though. The best answer is to reload specifically for the Garand using the correct powder(s) and bullet weights. My Garand loves 47.5gr of IMR4064 and 165gr Hornady SST's.

Why not run 150 grain soft points and save 10$ a box?
Because current commercial ammo is not loaded with the correct powders that the Garand was designed for and the gas system pressure can be excessive, causing wear and possible damage.

I tried the Hornady M1 ammo last weekend and really liked it, but don't like the $36.99/box of 20 price from my local shop.

Well let's take a rough interpretation of your phrase.
A bent op-rod, the most commonly broken M1 Garand part using incorrect ammunition, cost about $80 five or six years ago.
That's an expensive part for a surplus rifle & an ever declining source of good useable parts.
The last lots of MILSPEC ball that was in circulation was US LC69 some 16-18 yrs ago. We used to go through a lot of Cdn made .30-06 ball in the vehicle mounted Browning MGs. The latest Cdn lots I saw were headstamped DA55 and DA62. I still have a bit of DA55 ball and always found it good ammo.
The best solution is to get into reloading with attention to the following;
-always FL resize
-seat primers slightly below flush
-stick to IMR4064, IMR4895 or H4895 as these generate the proper pressure pulse to cycle the action w/o damage
-only use 150/165/168gr bullets
-use a reloading manual

When I refer to a shooter's Kit I mean an adjustable gas system or an adjustable gas plug.

Nope, I reload my own ammo.
I reload for about $0.50/round using PRVI 150gr FMJ bullets, a few cents more for Hornady 168gr Amax's.
When I started reloading it was for 6.5x55, 30-06 and .44 Mag. The savings off the 30-06 and .44 Mag paid out the entire investment in the first year, and I didn't do it on the cheap. At a savings of $26.99 per box of ammo, how long will it take you to recoup a few hundred $$$ spent on a budget loading setup? Nevermind the better quality ammo, the ability to customize loads to the rifle and the purpose and on and on.
The adjustable gas plugs are a great solution if someone just can't bring themselves to reload, but reloading is the best answer available.

Undoubtedly, however for those who do not and are discussing the availability of M2 spec ball the adjustable gas plug is a huge money saver.
Also if you are a less adventuresome handloader the gas plug lets you follow the manual when you are cooking up hunting loads or match loads.

Midway doesn't ship North of the 49th unless that recently changed.
I reload for my Garand too. There are loads in most manuals listed to duplicate M2 Ball and it's dirt cheap.
