Why not run 150 grain soft points and save 10$ a box?
Because current commercial ammo is not loaded with the correct powders that the Garand was designed for and the gas system pressure can be excessive, causing wear and possible damage.

That's an expensive part for a surplus rifle & an ever declining source of good useable parts.

The adjustable gas plugs are a great solution if someone just can't bring themselves to reload, but reloading is the best answer available.

Midway doesn't ship North of the 49th unless that recently changed.
I reload for my Garand too. There are loads in most manuals listed to duplicate M2 Ball and it's dirt cheap.
