The commercial Husqvarna, FN actions were at one point considered to be the best in the world, and every other manufacturer had to strive to get to the same level or exceed it. Most opted for gloss over better function.

Yes, especially the later commercial HVA Mausers, whioch combined the original design with modern Swedish metallurgy. If you get a low mileage one that's been cleaned and oiled regularly, you can't get anything remotely as good for the price.

I did, I just don't know enough to decide whether I should buy a full FN gun, an actual Mauser, or just a cheap Husqvarna?

huskys and fn are both great rifles, military mauser usually need a lot of polish, and other cosmetic work intersurplus is a good resource

Find a used CZ550 or BRNO 600. Forged receivers, floorplate magazines and 5 round magazine.

Hi All,

It's my first post here!

I'm looking for a CRF 30-06, and I like the look of the old Mauser actions, and I find the flag safety really handy since I shoot left handed. Do you guys have opinions on the better action? It seems old Husqies are easy to find, along with some FN actioned rifles. I think the commercial actions are the way to go for a general purpose hunting rifle, but what about the Husqvarna CRF actions compared to the FN? Are used Mausers worth the extra money?

I'd like to have a reliable project/shooter for under $1K. I have a fair bit of woodworking experience to fix or modify stocks, and I have a machine shop, so small fixes/mods are not a issue. (Although I'm not a trained gunsmith).

I have a 94 fn Mauser in 8x57 everything is great about it I absolutely love the gun
Been trying to find a new stock for it but no where seems to sell them. It is the husqvarna made one. The action is smooth and overall not a heavy gun super reliable in my opinion.

The later FNs commercial 98s do stand out in that they do not have the thumb-cut for stripper clips, are large ring design, which makes the action stronger, they #### on opening. The Husky M96 are a small ring action, and #### on close like an Enfield.

What is your problem man, what did I do to you to be such a dlck?? I had a few and still have a few Husqvarna and I never had a problem with them, I’m lucky maybe.
What do you use that is so great that you are afraid to share with us?
Please enlighten us on what is for you a great gun that has no defects, the ultimate of all guns please share you knowledge with all of us!!

As a lefty my biggest question is why? Buy a LH Ruger. It will have a better bolt handle arrangement. A better scope mounting set up along with a better trigger, stock, and barrel.

I like keeping my trigger hand fixed, and using my other hand to cycle the bolt.
