Just regarding the rifle...I've got the X bolt SS Carbon Fiber....it's awesome. Stock is super grippy in all weather, rotary mag works great and is flush, recoil pad is fantastic etc...Mine shoots under 1 moa all day long from a back pack on top of my car roof all day long. You'll love it.
30.06 OR 7mm-08.. HELP!

I was in a 7mm-08 vs. 30-06 debate as well. My first leanings were also towards a 7mm-08 and if Wholesale sports had it in stock I would have one. Thing is I was willing to wait and it gave me time to read up on 30-06 vs the 7mm-08. They told me it would be 2 weeks at most since the rifle was in the warehouse in Edmonton. Upon a lot of reading I read about the .270 and then dropped the 30-06 from my list of contenders. In the end, they called me and said the 7mm-08 is in stock so I went down there and in talking to the salesman I walked out with a .270 He asked my primary purpose and I said targets and deer. Possibly a moose in the very distant future. Might be worth reading up on a .270 or see what others here have to say if that was also a choice of yours.

Well guys,..thanks so much for all your input. I can see that the 7-08 is getting very popular,..and for good reason,..it's a great caliber,....however,....I ended up walking out of the store with the "Caliber 30 of 1906". I just can't help it I love the capability of the 30-06. Plus the short action 08 almost felt too small,..I'm a fairly big guy 6'2" 245lb,..I don't mind the recoil of a 06, and I have had such great success over the years with it that I just couldn't talk myself in to trying the 7-08,...oh well maybe next time,....and I'm sure there will be a next time, lol.

I have had several '06s, liked every one of them and actually thought I would never want or buy another.... that is until my Forbes 24B came along.
For me it is the most accurate and enjoyable 30-06 I have ever owned.
I have two 7-08s in my locker, and hunt with it wouldn't use anything else.
I have the heavier of the two on the EE an older Remington 700 BDL.
I love the 7 X 57 but the commercial rounds I have been told are downloaded so they don't reach their true potential.
Plus they are heavier due to the receiver length.
I only use my 308, 30-06, to kill paper.

Maybe so, but you have some toys that make up for that.... don't you ?
