30-06 prvi garand ammo

That's be great.

I bought 500 rounds of PRVI 30-06 150g for use in my M1 garand. Once I had the ammo purchased, a friend of mind advised it would likely be too hot for the garand. Not sure if it's true or not, but needless to say, I now have 400 rounds of 30-06 ill never shoot. It's not worth it to pull the bullets and reload it. I digress.

Bring some of this in!

If you get an adjustable gas piston you can safely shoot this ammo in a Garand. Otherwise, you have been correctly advised--it is a bit too hot for the garand.

Yes for 30-06 at around 60-80 cents a round with excellent brass for reload, lots of interest

Its just an issue for the m1 garand because it was tuned to work perfectly with the load the army used so not all the ammo will run well in it

Might be the wrong spot for this question, but it's been bugging me forever! Whats the difference between 30-06 Garand and just 30-06?!

Can the Garand ammo run through any other 30-06 without any issues though? Say If there was an Ammo can full of reasonably priced rounds....

The issue is that some .30-06 ammo is loaded with a slower burning powder. This "flattens out" the pressure curve, so there is still a lot of pressure near the end of the barrel. This gives greater velocity which most people want.
The problem is that as the pressure is still quite high near the muzzle, the gas port that runs the semi auto system gets overpressured. The ammo made specially for a Garand has a faster burning powder that drops enough pressure to be safe.
So, if you use Garand ammo in a bolter, there is no worries at all, but you might not get the top velocities that other loads can give.
