.30-06 to .300 H&H?? Possible? Worth it?

Oh really, Ted? There we go again, LOL! I may need one!

Woodbeef, it's just a peculiar itch I have specifically for the H&H....there is no other .30 cal magnum I really would settle for. But why is the .308 Norma easier? Just shorter? I don't know much about it.

Because the OAL is the same as the .30-06. Brass is hard to come by, but very easy to make out of either 7mm RM or .338 WM brass. It is very similar to the .30-.338 wildcat. You don't need to mess around with bolt throw, magazine box etc. Performance is pretty much identical to the other .300 mags. I have only ever owned one, but I sorely miss it. In fact I have posted several wanted ads trying to buy it back. It was a custom built on a GEW 98.

Well KC,for years I wanted a 300 H&H,but never was in the right place at the right time. Picked up a PH Safari Super in 308NM this spring, once I shot it I was sold on the calibre. I sold the PH and another one, but have a FN built Model 70 in 30-06 being rechambered presently. The 308NM cleans a 30-06 chamber up quite nicely my Gunsmith says.

That Model 70 Ted has is a nice one.
