I have recently stumbled across a 30 06 valmet in great shape and the owner only wants $2500 for it. I know that is a great price but is it really that great of a rifle for the money?

It isn't that great of a rifle for the money, no. It's a frigging AK variant, it's not worth more than a grand, and that's even pushing it. You could get a better rifle in the same caliber for a fraction of the price. They are not $2000+ dollar guns!

Why are they always grossly inflated in price? As I said, it's an AK variant. If you get it, you'll be paying for the fact that it's one of the few AK variant rifles in the entire country that isn't 12.x, not because it's a particularly good rifle.

I have 3 .308 Valmet Hunters. They are awesome! I've found mine to be just as accurate as the basic model $2000 M1A's.

If you don't like AK's then its not for you.

The added bonus to the Hunter is you can convert them to an M76 or Galil.

My god, the guns I would pick up other than a Valmet for that amount of cash :(

I have shot a Valmet in .308 win and it was cool but not cool enough to justify the $4K + my buddy paid for it! If you have a lot of cash and get a kick out of owning something most people don't for the sake of rarity then have at 'er.

But if you are asking if it's a good gun for the money lol It's just an AK that costs a lot of money. It will be reliable if nothing else.

What are you looking for specifically in a "good gun" when you say that?
