30-06 with modern powders

Not superformance. I bought a bunch for cheap, and it's not great.

I have had good luck with superformance with 190gr projectiles

I am looking for a powder to load for a 16.5 "brl. weights between 130 & 200 any suggestions. And yes it has a real bark and a flame.

Currently testing 30-06 and 30-06 AI loads with D4895 and W760. Bullet weights if 150, 168, 178 and 190 gr. I'll post results when I finally get it all done.

My Tikka T3X 30-06 load:

54gr RL17 with Hornady 178 ELD-X to 2788fps

Try finding RL17....

Reduce load above 5% and use H4350 and work up

RL17 54.3 for me in my Tikka yes - not easy to find now

Ok so im behind the times. Anyone have any sugestions for the old 06 with some modern powders to push 180-220 gr hunting bullets a bit harder than stock stuff ?

R-19 is about the most perfect powder I've found for the 3006, and those bullet weights. Finding some is another matter.

I've had great results with StaBall 6.5 and 165 grain, but it is also excellent up to 212 grains that I've tried from my Ruger American Gen 2.

Staball 6.5 will push a 180 gr Norma Oryx to 2800 fps. Switch to a Nosler Partition and the velocity drops by 50 fps. That's from a 22" barrel.
I'll be trying 165 & 150 gr bullets next, to see if the results remain consistent. Data to be found on the Hodgdon website.
