Blake, I have had two 30-30s rechambered to AI, both done by Paul Rogan the publisher of Canadian Access, here in Whitehorse.
One was a Winchester Model 94, the other a Marlin 336. Both rifles had 20" barrels, and both would get 150 gr bullets well past 2600 fps. The Winchester actually got velocities close to 2700 before the lever got "sticky", which surprised me.
That was years ago, and I used that old Nobel #44 powder we got in seven pound bags from Higginson. One bag was a lot of shooting, when you were only loading 35 or 36 gr of powder!
The 30-30 AI is kind of the definition of efficiency in rifle cartridges. Having said that, I no longer have either one, both having gone to guys who just had to have one. Was going to have Paul do another one, but he sold his reamer to David Henry.
Too many other projects and just never got around to sending another rifle off to David, so I guess that means I haven't missed them that much. It was fun getting 300 Savage ballistics out of a little model 94 though.
