Hi,
I have a 1967 made,Winchester Model 94, 26 inch barrelled Canadian Commemerative.
While I was in Alberta it developed some 'feeding' issues.
In other words, it would not feed smoothly from the magazine, and after the first shot, while cycling the action, another round from the magazine, would feed 'too early' and seize up the cycling prcoess.
To unjam I have to remove the tubular magazine retaining screw, remove the spring and shell 'pusher' from the magazine and push out the jammed round in a reverse process.
And the shell stop, appears intact/flush/fine.
Could a bent shell carrier contribute to this second round jam?
This is the only part that shows any defect from my visual inspection.....

I have a spare NIB? shell carrier from this era, and it certainly appears more flush/trued and square, compared to the carrier removed from this rifle.

Any advice from the experts?
Cheers..........................................:)

The shell carrier is a stamped piece of metal?
As I understand it, the heavier pre-64, and post 1971 cartridge lifter will fit these models. It is decidedly superior.
I have also seen the cartridge stop worn down on one of these, on a friends rifle. Being a machinist, he built it up himself.
On his, the cartridge stop took bites out of the rim of the cartridge, and it was difficult to close the last little bit of the action.

If you are able to locate a new "link", replacing this will probably take care of the too early issue. These links wear quickly and allow another round to feed.

I have been wrong once or twice in my life but I am %99 certain that the link in the Canadian commemorative is a bit of a freak and the other links won’t work. I seam to remember calling Erv at WGP and he told me that the commemorative link was no longer available. I remember this because I had to TIG up the shell stop on the last one and you have to take the gun apart 20 times and file the stop so that it works right. RODS HATE TAKING APART 20 TIMES! Take apart, file, put together, test and repeat 20 times AAARRRRRGGGGGGGG! Rod

A post 1971 machined/cast carrier will work to replace the stamped POS.

Sometimes the stamped ones bend.

It sounds like your cartridge stop on the link is work/damaged. I've seen them worn & chipped. Probably welding is the way to go with that.

I replaced the lifter in the Centential '67 I had, so I know it works.

Winchester changed the lever geometry @1971 and the link may have changed with it. IIRC I changed out my lever when I changed the carrier and I think I had to do some filing/stoning to make it work properly.

Win 94s built from 1964-70 are basically POS as generally described. Post 1971 '94s are as good or better (mechanically) than a pre-64.
