Yep on the 30-30 front here. A number of Marlin 30-30s have passed through my hands, including a couple of straight stock ones, which are really nice.

The one that's now settled in my gun room (for good, I think) is a mid-60's Marlin 336RC "Royal Canadian", which was a limited edition series that Marlin released for the Canadian market. The rifle is the standard Regular Carbine configuration, but had a maple leaf engraved on the barrel, deluxe wood (it's hard to tell this as generally Marlin wood is pretty nice), and factory sling swivels.

I enjoy carrying the rifle through the woods more than hunting with it. The 30-30 is a classic and I'll always own one. While I reload, I also like to accumulate factory 30-30 ammo at a discount for those who think they're moving up to bigger-and-better things by selling their 30-30's ;)

Here are the 3 that I have, One on top I used to get the biggist whitetail buck i have ever shot in my lifetime, and prob the biggist I will ever shoot! one in the middle is on sale on EE. Bottom one is from 1897 in 30-30 posting a target off sand bags at 100 yds. and this one has been around the block, whith not the greatest barrel, why do they shoot so great? Love the tang sight!

.30-30...

I have a M99 Savage Saddle ring carbine in .30-30.I'm very impressed with its accuracy.I've put three shots just under two inches(freestyle)@100 yds.I cant wait till spring to try some new pointed stuff with it.I havn't shot anything with it yet but its the ticket for pushing bush.

I've have a '94 that was a high school graduation gift from my father back in '61. I payed $11 to have a Lyman peep sight put on it back then and recently replaced the front sight with a fiber optic "fire sight". I don't like it so much for target work, but it shows up nicely under low light conditions.
I hate the cross-bolt safety on the Marlins. Instead of being locked up the gun just reacts like a misfire if the trigger is pulled while it's engaged. My local gunshop will pull them out and replace them with a pin to fill in the holes for a couple of bucks. Any of you Marlin owners have that done?

I have a M94 which my grandfather gave me, it was my first centerfire rifle and used it on my first deer. It still gets shot once in a while and is my choice for a walk in the woods for sure! I will definitly never sell this one

Another Marlin 336 cs owner here. Was my deer gun till last year when I got a bolt .270. It was my first centerfire gun. I have owned it for about 20 years or so, taken many deer, and was/is a faithfull hunting companion.

I have visions of placing it in my son's hands when the time comes but that won't be for many years.

Yes, Use it for my quad gun, but the SKS shares the same case, it can take more of a beating for a much cheaper rifle.

This Winchester is the hierloom from my sadly gone father.
He kept immaculate care of this 1956 made 30-30 Carbine, that he purchased in 1966 at the Canex at CFB Shearwater.
Prior to the purchase, some very nice RCN WW2 veterans always took him deer hunting and ensured he had a loaned 303 LE to use.
Because of young family commitments, it was quite a while before dad bought this one. He was a teenager when the Allies liberated his home country of Belgium. Later he moved to Canada.
The ability to buy and own a brand new deer rifle was quite a big deal for him, because of his young life experiences.
I now enjoy it because of him.
(Now, without causing disgrace to my family name: Do I thank the Germans???)

Hunted with my Dad's a time or two. Once I started reloading and became fairly reliable (somewhere around '86) with it, he let me make some rounds for him. It took a whole lot of convincing to let me load pointed bullets it it!! Anyway, 165gn Hornady SP flat base in front of a load of 3031, launched at 2100fps turned it into a 300yd deer getter. It just took some training to get him to NOT load more than one in the chamber and one in the tube. He only used it one year that way and then went back to the regular 170gn flatnose commercial stuff. Just couldn't make him see it was better. But, since his shots were only ever no more than 50yds (over a bait), I let it go.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'd take one if the right deal came along. Not wishing to hurry up my father's time just to inherit one.

of course...

Have shot moose, rabbits, seals, badgers, caribou, deer, elk, bears.....with it.

If I could own only one gun it would be a Marlin 30/30...

I can get off 5 shots in about 1.5 seconds when I want to have fun, and can take a deer at 250 yrds when I want to get down to business...

:)

Got a Marlin gs in 45/70. But I really miss my old 94 winnie, Got my first bear with it.

I've got a Stevens bolt action 30-30 . I don't hunt with it anymore but have in the past. I've also used a '94 once or twice fun and fast little bush guns.
