30/30 lever action prices

The prices have gotten out of hand, but they seem to be leveling out. That being said, they are still leveling at a much higher price that I believe they are worth. Just my $.02 worth.

Hi all. I’m likely not the only one who wished he did t sell their 30/30 lever…

I want one again and can’t believe how the cost has skyrocketed!!!

You have no idea how I regret selling my Winchester 1894 30wcf that was made in 1907. (Saddle ring, too). Bought for $350. Sold for $550 a year or so later. Can't find one in the same condition, for under 1000-1200ish, now. (and this was only a few years ago). Maybe a rare score I had, but there were a few for sale at the time, within the same price range, so it wasn't a fluke. Things just got out of hand.

Once in a blue moon, I'll see a "deal" (336 for $450 or so), but they're often beat up.

Prices overall are nuts. Look at SKS's, mosins, etc. Everything is up up up

(sure, there is inflation and demand and such, but not to this degree!)

I recall circa 1998 one could buy a decent shape pre 64 Win '94 .30-30 in these parts for around $350. With the inflation calculator that translates into approximately $675 in 2024 dollars. Which is a far cry from the $1K plus asking prices for one around here now.

How's the local inventory, though?

Unless you know the farmers you're SOL ;)

I lucked out and got introduced to a really down to earth individual, that's also how I was able to purchase land. As they dont list on MLS either.

Some of the deals they give you is pretty insane. and if they dont have what your looking for , they are usually able to find it for you.

Also depends were you live, Out here in Rural Alberta guns are still dirt cheap.
find anyone that has owned for decades and is not caught up in the current market and prices will be more than reasonable
a local shooter had a nice Win 38-55 for sale for too little imo, so I suggested he take to a lgs, where it sits on consignment for 2.5X what he thought it was worth

It starts with new rifles having a 50-80% markup over US sale prices, so a base Rossi or Henry is near $1500 new
US MSRP on the Rossi triple black in 30-30 is $1288. Exchange alone brings that to $1735. They are retailing for ~$1800. Rossi prices in Canada are not outrageous when compared to their US MSRPs.

Things like the Turkish made Gforce Huckleberry guns, which have a US MSRP of $500-600 USD but are $1200+ here are ####ing bananas though.

Pre-covid a Win94 or Marlin 336 could be had for $500 in rough shape, and $650 for decent but not amazing shape. I really wish I bought one at the time...

A decent or popular vintage firearm is going to run you 1000$ now. There are deals out and about but it takes time.
I could almost wrap my head around a Pre64 Model 94 for prices up close to $1K, but people still want (and are getting) money like that for a Post64 which is mindboggling.

Any of us with any gun knowledge are amazed at the myths of pre 64 Winchesters. They were good rifles if looked after but many look like that seen a lot of action.

I'm down to only one Pre 64 30-30 right now from half a dozen 30-30's. This one I bought from Epps for $400 about 15yrs ago, Circa 1927 SRC. I'm sure it would be north of $1000 in today's market.
