Its a .30-.30 I don't care what kinda parts you buy, you won't turn your volkswagon into a porsche.

The .30-.30 did its job very well for over 100 years. Why f**k with history.
But Porsche designed and built the Volkswagen.

Anf for the guy paying $28 a box... wow... SIR has em for $19.99, 5 boxes shipped to PEI cost me $135.

And Winchester made the WSM so what? :p

Yah, but Winchester also went t!ts up, and ended up laying everyone off, shutting down, and selling all their equipment off at discount.

If it makes you guys feel better I'll use them in only a pre 64, or a 66 refurbished with pre 64 internals. :D

I've seen pictures. It's apperently rare, but it happens. The recoil can cause the bullets to slide forward against the spring - then slam back, and Pow!

That is the whole point behind the LeverEvolution "pointy" bullets, better BC bullets for a tube mag. Hornady has a video clip on their website. A fellow atop a ladder drops a tube full of them to the ground. I've never heard of it happening. So far, I've shot 2 boxes of the stuff through my XLR.

I have seen a Ruger .44 semi carbine blown to bits when the tube mag was loaded with FMJ round nose bullets. I would say that a pointed bullet would be even more dangerous.

Blackpowder?

The Ruger uses a rotary box mag, not a tube mag. Would have nothing to do with the bullets setting off primers. Sounds like a double charge.

the original ruger cabine was tube feed.
True, had a 4 rd. capacity. I get puzzled by how much energy would be released by ammo not contained in a chamber, I realize BP would go boom in a hard way but smokeless? Might be one for Mythbusters or build a tube, spring load it and drop it from a great height. Youtube look out.

Well - enough to burst the chamber anyway. Firecrackers make a goodly bang just contained by paper. I imagine a metal tube would shatter nicely, and while it may not be fatal it's gotta ruin your day.

Firecrackers are BP, smokeless acts differently and will only flare when contained by paper, hence my puzzlement. I think a lot of this grenading myth goes back to the BP days but then again I think Paris Hilton is the one for me, drunk, slutty, hot and rich.

I guess so, but the magazine IS metal. Sure - it won't hold the pressure like a barrel would, but i'd guess it'd hold a bit. And it might not be the last bullet in the line that fails, so you could get all kinds of interesting things going on.

I've never heard of anyone killed, but i've heard of people getting their hand and arm injured. Mind you - i haven't actually read a first hand account (So to speak.)

Yep, my wife's late grampa swore he saw a flying saucer in Oregon about 30 years ago and he was no fool, just a little shy of concrete proof though.

LOL - well i think i've seen a little more convincing proof of it than that :D

But if you feel the need for absolute proof, i suppose you could always get some nice pointy bullets, load up 4 or 5 boxes of ammo, and run 'em thru the ole 30-30 and see what happens. :) I don't know if i'd recommend it tho.

As an aside, since I started the thread :D , what is the difference between a pre -64 Winchester mod 94 and my 1972 Winchester mod 94? Mine is in very good shape mind you not many shells have passed through that barrel, and everything "feels" right, so what happened at Winchester in 1965 that "made all them guns undesirable" I would bet it was something stupid like "CNC machining that's just wrong, no computer can run a mill better than 'ol Bob".
