30-30 leverevolution

^^^^^ Any .444 Marlin? Its running $38. a box here in Ontario.

Although I must say that I'm impressed with the .260gr .444 load. It makes one hole (one big hole!) 4-shot groups at 50yrds.

Thirty-thirty with Standard Loads...

I would like to dust off the ol' dirty thirty and hunt with it. Has anybody tried the new hornady leverevolution ammo and does it make a difference?

Maybe it's just me but a whole ####load of game has been taken with the ole .30-30 standards - 150's & 170's... why not dust it off & use those?

Most game is shot this side of 200 paces, right? The .30 WCF has killed game of all sizes for well over 100 years, and it has done it well. I agree, use anything you want for bullets, just don't count out this classic cartridge.

Has there ever been a documented case of a chain fire being caused by pointy bullets in a tube mag?
There have been a few cases of Repro Henry's detonating the ammo in the tube at various Cowboy Matches around the states......
This was not solely "Pointed" bullets in the tube though but usually was a combo of Improper loading techniques combined with "pointy" bullets. The follower is actually held out under spring tension while loading...the loader usually slips and the follower slams down on the rounds.....Most of these were 44-40's and 45 colts.

If the mag spring can generate enough smack to set off the primers then it stands to reason a heavier recoiling cartridge such as the 30-30 etc. with Spitzer Bullets would not be a Good idea to say the least.;)

I guess to each his own, but I like what NAA says....
IMHO, 170 grain nosler partiton bullet is about exotic as I will ever get, in
30-30 flavor.

With the ranges you shoot deer at I would have thought that you would have embraced this round for it's ballistic advantage at longer ranges.:p :D
