30-30 Loads

Does any one have some good Loads for a 30-30 Bolt action. I've Noticed That the Books I have only list for the round Nose, 150 Gr and 170. and for a Lever Gun. I would Like to Use 120 or 130 Gr.

I have tried 37 grs of H335 with a 130 gr Hornady Spire point with good results.

If you're looking for a "varmint" load - try 43 grs of H335 with a 100 gr Speer plinker.

That would be a dandy load out of a bolt action or used in a tube gun with only one in the magazine.

The 125 grain ballistic tip would also be a good one with a similar dose of H335 and I think the 110 grain Speer pointed soft point would be interesting.

You can buy the leverevolution 165 gr FTX bullets and the leverevolution powder.

I find my Savage 340C loves the round. Flat shooting and it did a nice job on my buck this year. The gun is old but I would not give it up for anything.

The 37g of H335 and a 125g bullet is what I used for years. Just don't try to push it too hard. The Savage 340's start to show poor accuracy when you load them up too far. At least that is what I found.
