30-30 low priced ammo options available?

That stuff was good ammo and the brass seemed to be pretty decent too. Mind you at $4.80 it would be hard to justify reloading!

I have Marshall Well's marked boxes of Dominion 30-30 Win with 150grn flatnose bullets marked at $2.75 and some with Army and Navy stickers at $2.00. Then of course there are some surplus boxes of CIL FMJ made for the military, maybe Rangers with 50 cent price stickers.

Mr Nicholson, you are quite adamant about doing it all as cheaply as possible, sort of like a hobby unto itself and I do understand. Do you every buy in bulk or just look for deals on small lots?? Believe me, I am not knocking it. My wife is married to a cheap basterd. I scour yard sales looking for scopes, firearms and ammo regularly. I don't make special trips to do so but once in awhile if I pass a likely looking sale along the way to some place else I will stop in and ask if they have anything I'm looking for. There is about a 10% chance they have something they are willing to sell. That's where the CIL FMJ ammo came from.

Lots of yard sales and especially estate sales will have firearms related items or even firearms if they are asked.
 
Heck, go to a gun show.
Think of the $$ yew'll save.
Thirty bucks fer fewl, door charge, then a burger/reeb oar two
and all the t'uther chit yew'll bring home.

Yeeeeeeee-up, head awn over to the next gun show.

I was at Lebarons in Ottawa a cpl months ago and they had Winchester super X 170gr powerpoints for $18 a box. I bought the last 10 boxes they had. I figured the way ammo pricing is sky rocketing I might as well ckean them out a that price.

It is sad to think that .30-30 ammo at $18 is a deal, but you probably did the right thing.
