30-30

Win 748..........32gr /170gr/win or fed case /mag primer.......................34.5gr/150gr same platform.

H4895 and 3031 for top end cast.
LVR was great when I shot jacketed added almost 200 fps to my 170 gr hornady.
Varget and 4064 play well with heavy cast and near 100% case fill.
Alliant 2400 or h4198 for 150 gr cast

Great timing for this thread , for me , I've just started a lever faze and loading 30-30 for the first time
I've been using odds and ends of different jugs , BLC2 seems the best so far , I only had a little imr 3031 also good with 150s
Tried a few with H414 and at least one other . Absolutely everything has shot as good as I am with open sights but off a bench within 5" and a couple different levers with 150&170gr bullets

I'm hoping THE load will be shared here ,, maybe I can do better

The 30-30 works so well with so many powders.
I hardly think "The load" will be the same for everyone. Never found it too difficult to work up a good load with damn near every powder I have tried in it. Though I only shoot cast through my 30-30's now.
What really stood out for me when shooting jacketed was the lvr powder at near max loads, accurate and fast.

Lever has been good for me. I was loading 170 partitions but due to the price ($63/50) and not finding many good stories about them in the .30-30 on game I've decided to switch my hunting load over to Sierra 170 fn. They seem to be the toughest of the .30-30 bullets which should go well with the 2300 fps mv that LVR gets me from my 20" 336. For plinking my favourite load is a Berry's 150 FN plated over 9 grs Red Dot. I haven't chronied them but Lyman lists 1481 fps. Very fun load that's shooting under an inch at 50 yds. I have 1000 of those bullets and will need an extra jug of Red Dot to get through them all.

I get 1/2 " or tighter in a H+R/ SS with Win 748 Tried LVR and the grouping went to Hell.May play with that later and 2 ft high POI.

Impressive bullets. Looks like Tradex has them in stock. Might have to give them a try.

Just getting into reloading for the 30-30. Ive read that the LVR (Hodgdon) is quite good but I have some Varget. Anyone liking Varget in their 30-30 rounds?
