30-30

How in heaven's name du'ya handle all that recoil?............... :D

Well, if I was a "gun writer", I could fill a page about how the larger diameter bullet ...blah blah blah. To be truthful, I just like the sound of it - .32 Winchester Special
. Music to us old gunners' ears!

I want to use my 94 in .32 win this year for my 1st iron sighted deer hunt.
Bought some factory winchester loads for my wife"s .30-30 savage bolt gun this year, .30-30 is the only centrefire hunting ammo available for under $20.

My father has a Marlin 30-30.

It has sat in his closet for about 4 decades.
Probably taken out to plink with twice in its lifetime.

And when I say plink, I REALLY mean plink (bottles and beer cans)
When I think back now to when I was 12 and shot it for the first (and only) time, that was one HELLUVA Kick for a target shooter.

... poor rifle.

Nope, my marlin 336 has been with me on the three excursions so far this year for moose... Yeah that's right moose... Hornady ammo 3-9x40 bushnell legend scope, anything inside 150yds is done for (bull only license... So not really)

My avatar pic is my .30-30, a pre-64 model 94 winchester. I don't think there's a better handling bush rifle in the world.

I still use it for hunting bear and deer.

I have a pre-64 30-30, but I either need to put the Lyman peep back on it or get a new front sight to go with the semi-buckhorn rear. It shoots a foot high at 100yrds. Nice group though!
A buddy of mine uses nothing but a Marlin 336 in 30-30. He's dropped a few deer with it.

My girlfriend used a 30-30 for years and killed plenty of deer, if i owned one i wouldnt hesitate to use it at all

My Marlin 336 is more than enough for what I do. It'll take down any deer or bear, and I've seen it used on moose, elk. Like the other fella said, it's probably taken more game than all other cartridges combined.

I have one! It's been in the family for years and was just passed down to my husband about a month ago. It kept my father in-law's family fed the whole time he was a kid. Tried and true :)

This is actually the only picture I have of me hunting with a rifle

94.jpg

i will be using my 336 3030 and my tikka 3006 this fall. when i'm in close ranges i plan to use my 3030, when i hunt some of my longer shot spots i'll be packing my 3006

I use a 30-30 Winchester model 64 (updated version of the 94) and I love it. Light and handy to carry all day in the bush. Accurate, and mild recoil (I handload). Cheap to feed if I have to buy store bought.
Just something about carrying a nice handling rifle, not fighting a heavy club, that makes hunting a nice enjoyable experience.
