I recently picked up a new 30-06 and am considering trying the 130 gr Barnes TTSX bullets for deer. Before I spend a bunch of cash or burn hard to find powder I thought I would check and see what others real world experiences might be. Right now I'm most interested in bullet performance on deer sized game from 100 to 400 yards rather than group size. So if any one can share their experiences good or bad that will help me make a decision one way or another I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance Chuck.

It's normal to drop the weight so you can increase the velocity with solids. You want impact velocity to be no less then 2000fps give or take. With a stout MV you will be good out to 500m or so with those bullets and still get expansion.
It will work perfectly on deer, and probably not have much drop until about 350-400 yards. I've used them in my 300WSM at 3500 fps and they are accurate and hard hitting. You don't "need" TTSX for deer, but they do open up shot angle opportunities and they kill well.
I tried some 110gr Tsx bullets in my .300winmag and they were screamers. I think I was getting 3875 f/s with them. Gotta get some more now that you remind me. And , in my opinion, the 130gr is at least as good as a 165gr lead core. No loss of mass.
Thanks guys looks like I need to add some TTSX to my shopping list at the Swift Current Gun Show this weekend. I better look through my powder supply and see what I have that might be suitable to the 130's as well. I know I have a keg of IMR 4350 and will likely start with that. I'm at the show all weekend displaying and promoting CAS for the Saskatchewan Association of Cowboy Action Shooters.
A quick look at the Hodgdon site shows a number of powders I have on hand so it looks like all I need is the bullets.
