I am loading .30 carbine with 120 grain cast and gaschecked bullets. Does anyone have a good load (powerful) with H110 powder? My thoughts were 13.5 grs because the starting load for a 110 grain bullet is 14 grs. Does this seem reasonable. I have searched the internet and can't find anything to my liking. TIA

.30 carbine

It seems quite reasonable for a 120 gr cast gc start load......my manual gives 13.0 gr. H110 as a start load @1800 fps and max. at 16.1 gr. @2100 fps useing 110 gr. RNose copper jacketed.

My Lyman manual provides load data for a 120...123 and 130 gr cast bullet in M1 carbine...It does not give data for H110 though....only for IMRs' Sr 4756 and Imr 4227....2400 and Unique (last two now made by Alliant powder Co.)

Data for 120 gr. cast with gas check.. lyman #311359 mold

Unique...start 5.5 gr....1388 fps....Max 6.5 gr...1555fps
2400..............11.0......1633.........Max 12.5 gr..1828 fps (compressed load)
IMR 4227........11.5......1497.........Max 13.3 gr..1733 fps (comp.)
Sr4756...........5.5 gr....1298.........Max 6.5 gr...1463 fps

As you probably know.... some of these loads may not cycle your carbines action and cleaning your gas-port more often will be of value too shooting cast.
