I stumbled across some Berry's plated 110gn 30 Cal bullets online that are intended for the 30 Carbine. Has anyone tried them in a 308 win for a reduced recoil plinking load? What about in a semi (Stag 10 in my case)? Manufacturer says to keep them under 2000 fps... I thought that might be a good low recoil load for 50 yard fun and they are only 13 cents each! Concerned about how they will feed and cycle though.

I'm interested in 3gun (although I never seem to register for a match before they sell out) so I've been doing a lot more short range shooting with fast follow up shots. I like the 155gn Hornady BTHP Match with 40gn H4895 and the recoil has never bothered me... But I'm much faster with friends 223 AR-15's. I was hoping to find a load for my 308 that would be cheaper and less recoil for high volume shooting at short distances. ....and hoping to not buy another rifle yet. My 9mm Glock prevents me from entering heavy metal division so I'll be up against lots of the 223's. Long term if I stick with the shooting discipline I'll of course end up with equipment geared towards a certain division, but trying to run what I already own for now.

I've tried most of the cheap 145-155 FMJ bullet options and the money savings hasn't been worth the decrease in accuracy to me, but they're really only 10-15 cents cheaper than the 155 BTHP. These plated 110's are like 1/3 the cost of the BTHP!

Yes, you can shoot them. Accuracy will not be great, but ok for 50 yard plinking.

Use a faster powder. 4198 or 4227 or 2400

The accurate load probably would not cycle a semi.

I use those bullets in my M1 Carbines and also to reload 7.62x25. very accurate in the pistol.
