30 m1 carbine reloading question

I use those bullets in my M1 Carbines.

One thing about these fun/handy little rifles is that they are not all equal to each other. Close but have their own personalities.

When you develop your load, let me suggest to build them up until they start operating the action reliably and consistently. Usually with these rifles that's also the point where they are most accurate. Be very careful with SMALL cases. SMALL INCREASES in powder charges lead to LARGE INCREASES in pressures.

What the last poster said about pressure buildup, and remember that trim length is critical to avoid out of battery firings...pay careful attention to trim length. I have to use a Lee case holder when I trim brass using my Giraud trimmer to provide a consistent reference length on the cases (no bottleneck/shoulder to act as a datum point for the length reference).

Love the M1 Carbine!

Hornady also makes a 90gr HP I use in my Tokarev ............should blow up pests from an M1 carbine..........Harold

Good to know about the fast pressure buildup!
I have about 300 of these light bullets around and I don't reload tokarev anymore because I sold it
Where do you guys buy the plated or the armscor jacketed bullets in the Toronto or Barrie area?
I found them only at Henry's and the shipping to Toronto is not cheap
If I can find them around it would be better

Thanks for the info

296/H110 likes to be loaded at max. It's also explicitly cautioned not to go below start charge weight. Even those starting charges will operate the action reliably.

Using powder coated cast 120 gr Lee I can reload for not much more than the cost of .22 LR. For a $50 investment in tools it's a good bargain.
