30 major?

Anyone here have any experience with 30 major? Its a 6.5 grendel case necked up to 30cal. There seems to be a few people using it as an alternative to a 30br as it uses the same bolt face as a 6ppc.

Yes, I sort of did that. I actually did a 7.62x39 IMP case with 30° shoulder. I will be using 6.5 Grendel cases because of brass quality and small primer. Once the weather improves I'll be doing more testing with it. Here's a vid I did with some fireforming.

What kind of bolt face and extractor at you using? Are you using 4227 powder? It's a lot like a .30 ppc. Would be great for score shooting.

What dies are you using?

PT&G bolt with PPC boltface, Mini-M16 extractor. No neck turn with Lapua brass.
I'm using H-4198 powder and I made my own dies on the lathe. The plan is for some informal score shooting.

So, are you running the reamer in .070" deeper for Grendel brass? As opposed to the 7.62X39 improved?

Some guys shooting .30's have had good accuracy with some lots of the Speer 125 grain TNT.

I'm using my 7.62x39 Imp reamer. Here's the 6.5 Grendel case next to the improved one.
Shoulder is moved forward and neck shortened. With a zero throat I'm probably getting the max powder capacity, but have only just fireformed some cases and have yet reloaded them for chrono results.
Thanks for the Speer TNT tip. I should try them as it seems Bibs are unobtanium.
