Put one of those on a VZ and your optic will get the crap beat out of it by empties. No room to put in a brass deflector, either.

If it put the optic farther to the rear it would work.

Yes, they need a rail mounted if you dont have one, we brought them in for all the CSAs that are here. Here is how they look:

Hmm, what does it look like without the mount attached? Does the wall of the reciever need to be drilled and tapped? Kinda leary of doing something like that. Seems it would also cover the serial number and other info stamped on the side. Guess not that important.

Anyone going to the 12th shoot have one so I can see what it looks like?

The CSA's come with the receiver drilled and tapped. The early CSA imports come with the base. Looks like this:

Do the quick mounts lock up nice and solid or is the set screw model a better option? Also is there enough of an overhang on the base under the optic rail to prevent the scope / red dot from getting banged up?

Quick release. Super tight fit.

They are both tight, i reccomend the set screw unit if you leave it on, the QR if you are going to remove it a lot, you can still remove the cover & bolt for cleaning with the mount in place still. They center very nicley on the VZs

HiCal: It does not look like there is any kind of shell deflector so is there enough of an overhang on the base under the optic rail to prevent the scope / red dot from getting all banged up from ejecting brass?
