I own three 30 rounders and one of them is giving me trouble. The bolt snaps closed but then somehow bounces off the chamber and sets a few mm infront of the chamber, giving me unwanted headspace.

I shaved a lot off the mag lips and tried adjusting the guid rail screws, I also exchanged the spring and follower with the ones in the good mags but nothing seems to work, I still get headspace, sometimes as much as 1/8"

Any ideas? should I just pitch this mag out?

does the cartridge engage in the face of the bolt? i mean is it held by extractor?...i think the cartridge does not come out the mag right and causes that. i dont know if there is anything you can do besides replacing the mag.

yep, every shell is seated properly in the bolt and they fly out of the action when the bolt is pulled back

I had a similar problem. You can hear the bolt striking home on the breach face but it seems to bounce back and not return to full battery? If you manually close the bolt slowly does it want to stop before it's fully closed with the offending mag in place?

I found I had to do fairly extensive file fork to the lips of the mags to keep them from dragging against the bolt and preventing it closing fully. Light strikes or FTF seemed to be the symptom I was getting.

In the end I colored the tops AND SIDES of my feed lips with permanent marker then inserted then empty mags with the followers and springs removed (as not to trip the hold open) firmly into the action. I cycled the action a dozen or so times then inspected the feed lips to see where they were dragging and remove material from the location.

I was finding that the angular edge/sides of the feed lips were the real problem for me. It took me a few marker checks/filing sessions to eliminate the problem. I have had no feed/FTF problems with mine since...

that seems like a good idea, i've shaved so much off the top of the lips but never thought of taking some meat from the sides, i'll give it a try and report back
