.30 U.S. barrel markings are 30-40 Krag....

Yep, .30-40 Krag. AKA .30 Army. There's no ammo or brass available except 'seasonally' from Winchester and Remington with no mention of when that season is and Stateside. According to Midway USA(no exports), Remington is in the middle of a season now. Of course, that doesn't mean you can get any here.
It can be made out of .303 British. Mind you, you'd need dies and those are special order. Otherwise, it's just running the .303 case through the Krag sizer die. Rim will be a bit smaller and the neck a bit shorter, but neither will be off enough to matter.

I have a model 95 marked 30US and it is a 30-03.

Cast the chamber to be safe. No need to go buying special crap either. Swab oil all over the inside of the chamber and jam some toilet paper into the barrel just past the chamber throat an inch or so. Take a hot glue gun and squirt as much glue down into the chamber as you can, trying to fill from the bottom (case neck to base) up. Let it cool for 10 minutes and ram it out from muzzle end with a bare cleaning rod. You may get some ripples and bubbles in the cast but it will certainly let you know what calibre you are supposed to be shooting!! CLEAN THE BORE WELL BEFORE SHOOTING!!!!!!!!!

I have several 30US and they are all 30-40, my 30-03s are marked "30 Govt 03", I have also seen 30-40s marked 30 US Army. I have never seen a Winchester marked 30 US chambered in 30-03.

Winchester must not have been consistent. Mine is listed as 30 Rimless. 30-03,30-06 were rimless. 30-40 was rimed. Also the 30-40 barrel was 28 inches and the 30-03 was 24 except for a short time in 1906 when a few were offered in 26 inches.

If you're not sure, check the chamber for a rim and the bolt face for a ghost rim image.

If it is a 95 and is marked .30 US it is a .30/40 Krag period. Neither the .30/03 or .30/06 were ever marked .30 US by Winchester.
