I plan to use my Troy PAR this year for deer

I have a good supply of brass but haven't got bullets yet.
Any suggestions on what to buy.

I do like Barnes TSX but don't know what gr weight to buy.

I have some Winchester 296 ball powder as per Hornady and Nosler load data book

All I need is a bullet choice.

I find the Troy PAR is a great deer rifle here on Vancouver Island. The vast majority of deer are taken at under 100m so the 300 AAC Blackout round works really well.

Personally I prefer the 125g weight, and I use Hornady SST or GMX. Good knockdown power and consistent accuracy.

Hornady Vmax 110gr will expand at 1700fps or more. In a 16" 300BLK this means at least 200yds.
Hornady 168 A Max in the same rifle, while accurate on paper, will not achieve expansion velocity so there you have it: avoid it

why am I talking about VMax and AMax?
these bullets were not designed for 300blk but rather 308win or 30-06
in 308 or 30-06 they fragment big time
but in 300BLK they perform decently on game within 100yds
the question is: do you want to track the animal for perhaps hours or do you want to use your more suitable rifle?
 
If you could find the afore mentioned Barnes 110 grain, those. If not, a 125 Grain and 150 grain can be driven to about the same velocity. So an SST or Speer Hot core would be my choice.

Out to 200 yards both carry plenty of terminal energy for nice clean 1 shot kills. The 200 yard mark, translates to about 10" of drop (with a 100 yard zero), so quite doable, if you know your ranges well.

*Edit: Missed your post on range limited to 125 yards. Which makes it even easier. Comes down to whatever your rifle likes, but the SST's are cheap and easy to come by, wouldn't hesitate to use them at all. .
 
I will be hunting with my son or sons, sharing a ground stand. Both thier first hunt. They will be using my Sako 85 6.5x55 or a K98K with my handloads. TSX 130 for the Swede, don't know what for the Mauser yet.
The Troy will be for a second shot or a second(third) deer. Might not come into play.
 
Dropped 3 using 125gr SST's @2200fps.
Very accurate for me, through and throughs in boiler room shots, with a broken rib or two, 1.5"-2" exit holes.
Furthest travelled after shot was around 40' before expiry.
Longest shot on a deer yet was 125' with them though. Mostly in the bush around here.
