300 Blackout at 1000 yds

Sure, why not. If guys are claiming they can shoot .223 to a mile, then .300 Blackout to 1,000 yards should be easily doable. *GRIN*

Wonder what the velocity for a subsonic at 800 yards out of an 8 inch barrel would be? They mentioned it early in the article.

iSnipe says 710fps for a 200gr bullet.

So we are looking at roughly the ballistics of a 455 Webley at the muzzle or something between 38 Special and 38+P at the muzzle. Its not really a simple comparison because the handgun rounds are of larger diameter and will expand where the rifle bullet is much longer and will not expand but will tumble on impact. Regardless a 200gr .30 cal bullet at 700+ fps will retain enough power to penetrate and kill quite effectively.

Anyone have much experience with the Hi Lux CMR-AK scope that was used in the article? Seems like a nice matchup with the 300 BLK with the bullet drop compensation built in.

I have one on my rifle. I haven't used the reticle holdover markings at distance other than figured out that with it zero'd at 100yds with my supersonic load I need to holdover on the 350yd mark in the reticle to use my subsonics at 100yds.

Wanstalls is the only other retailer I know of that carries them. They are who I got my 223 version from.

Zeroed on the bottom arrow point or on the center dot? Also what colour reticle do you have cr5?

Wonder what kind of terminal performance it would have. Seems like it would still be quite lethal.

If hunting I wouldn't try to kill anything past 150yds with this cartridge. Bullet selection would be very important, I plan to use 150gr SST for deer once I get my 300BLK barrel for my NR ACR.
