In the process of building a 16 inch .300 but just looking for opinions on what kind of brake would work best for the range of bullets that may be used from 125 gr. all the way to possibly 200+heavy cast powder coated. Linear, single chamber 2 port, multiple chamber/ports, or none at all?
Thanks!

I use Surefire's SFMB762 brake. Extremely effective in keeping the muzzle level. I also have a Surefire Warden that I mount over the muzzle brake when I care about the shooters beside me. Best of all worlds. It is a pricey solution though.

I use a linear comp just so the muzzle has something on it other than a thread protector. I find that 300BLK shoots so smooth that there isn't really a need for a brake.
In my opinion you can put anything you want on, just pick the one you like the look of best keeping in mind which direction the noise will be directed.
My 300BLK AR's (just sold the last one) and my 300BLK conversion for my ACR all had a linear comps and my 300BLK bolt action usually has nothing or a fake suppressor.

I typically shoot 110gr V-max over H110 or 155gr A-max over Lil'Gun or A1680. The 155gr loads are sub moa in two of my rifles.

I'm just running a thread protector on mine (12 inch barrel). I don't find recoil or noise on it to be anything crazy. I'll probably eventually go with an externally thread muzzle device though.

On my 10.5" build; works fine for light SS rounds - all I've tried so far. Installs without the need for a crush-washer and center barrel is adjustable to counter specific recoil movement.

Thanks a lot folks, and to you cr5 for load ideas as I will definitely be reloading for the rifle.
Cheers!

I've found so far that H110 is great for supersonic loads up to 140gr, then I use Lil'Gun for most of my mid weight loads around 150gr, then I jump to 208gr subsonic with A1680. A1680 will also work well for supersonic 150ish gr loads but I have lots of Lil'Gun and not much A1680 so I keep it just for the heavy subsonic loads, it's a fairly narrow window between cycling the action and staying subsonic with the 208gr Hornady projectiles.
There are a few other suitable powders for 300BLK but so far those are the three I've used, I've got some loads made with IMR4227 but haven't tried them yet.
I'm glad I'm back down to two rifles in 300BLK, it's too much work trying to do load development on three rifles in the same cartridge, I got lucky though, they both love the same 155gr A-max load.
I've also got a 150gr FMJ load with trailboss that's nice and quiet but that one's for the bolt action only unless you like cycling your semi every time.

Just remember that not all loads you find in your books or online were made to cycle a semi auto, don't look for problems with your rifle just because it won't cycle properly. I had a piston driven 10" PWS that wouldn't cycle factory Hornady 208gr subsonic loads but cycled my handloads with the same projectile.
