I have a small 11 year old girl and thought this caliblre would be fun to shoot for her. I have stacks and stacks of old 30cal bullets so I figured why not!
Anyone have any thoughts on a rifle under $600 and who has one in stock? Anyone have a used one looking o get rid of? Most of them come pretty small in the stock with shorter barrels so I think it would fit her real well and would work well for deer sized game out to 150 yards.

I also have a 783 16.5". Shoots Speer 125TNT at 2250 ish around an inch to 1.5 inch at 100 yards with a 1.5-5x scope. No recoil fun little cartridge

Ya I am surprised a lot more aren't shooting it to be honest especially for kids.
 
300 BLK is mostly popular with AR15 builds as that's what brought it to the main stream. Sub sonic 300 BLK would be great in a bolt gun for kids. Explosive action on 2L bottles and Cans when compared to 22LR and similar recoil.

I believe Ruger American came in 300 BLK. So did the Mini 14 but...
 
I picked up one of the savage axis with the short bull barrel and it shoots awesome! Only issue with the gun is the dreaded extract/eject issues common with axis. Easy to fix once I can get my hands on the parts. If it didn't shoot so well I'd sell it to you. Awesome little round!
