Hi everyone,

I have a pound of H4198 that I want to use before opening my containers of H110 and LIL'GUN.

I have been looking all over the internet to get good reloading data using these components, but there is nothing on CGN, and all the data on US forums are for suppressed AR.

Hodgdon data is 11.2gn as max load with no starting load.

I previously used 10.8, 11 and 11.2 gn of H4198, but I had FTE almost every round, but shooting Hornady factory ammunitions, both sub and supersonic, it was running fine.
I was using Norinco 223/556 converted brass, but I don't think it's the cause of the problem.

Do I need to go over the 11.2gn maximum published load to get it to cycle properly, and what is the safest max gn I can go?

Also, what is your OAL using the 208 Amax, because the OAL published is longer than the factory Hornady ammo I have. Upun receiving my Hornady ammo I reduced the OAL of the loaded rounds I had to match the factory ones, but I would like to know for the future.

My 300 BLK build has a 10.5 aero precision barrel, with pistol length gas tube and Noveske KX5 «flaming pig», and I use a standard S&W buffer.

Thanks for your help!

I have shot a lot of cast lee 230gr at 2.160 oal with 11.5rg IMR 4198 with good success in 300 blackout 9"

The Hodgdon oal is way to long. I would try 2.15 to 2.2

I would say if your factory subs shoot fine then your not getting enough gas in your reloads and need a bit more powder. I have gone up to 12gr IMR 4198 and it was fine.

The max for 220gr on hodgdon is 11.5gr and my 230gr are still ok at 12gr, but are not subs any more.

Also try your factory brass to shoot some subs to rule out the norinco brass.

never tried the IMR 4198
for the 208gr I shoot them with 10gr to 15gr of AA1680 and never had any failure in my 16'' Daniel defense

give around 950 fps to 1500fps

if you want hornady data give me your email in MP

Thanks a lot for the infos.

Bullet weight and OAL hugely affect chamber pressure, so you really need to specify those things.

As specified, the bullet I'm using is a 208gr Hornady AMAX, as for the OAL, I can't remember exactly so I would need to dig for the exact number, but I seated the bullet the same as the factory Hornady round I had, using the same bullet,
