300 H&H Mag Ammunition

Hey guys,

I have a little less than 2 boxes of assorted head stamp 300 H&H Mag cartridges.

I imagine the bullets should be pulled, and the gun powder dumped out and reloaded as they are unknown reloads.

Is this a fairly uncommon calibre?

Well, you can still buy factory ammo, but not every maker produces it. As well, the likelihood of finding it at most Canadian Tire stores is pretty slim. - dan

This is one of those cartridges that needs to be reloaded for to reach its potential anyway. As initially sold, it barely bettered 30-06 performance. With modern powders, it can be significantly improved upon.


As an interesting sidenote, this cartridge has quite the legacy. This cartridge is the direct descendant of the 375 H&H, and the progenitor of nearly ALL the various belted magnums

Brass is very hard to find in Canada and the US as Winchester has stopped making it. None of the dealers I talked to have any. I managed to stock up on a couple hundred or so new WW brass for mine.

Winchester still produces 300 H&H, however they only run it once a year!
