.300 H&H....what action?

.300 H&H Custom?

If I was going to get a custom .300 H&H done up I'd 'want' to start with something like a pre 64 Win 70 action. But since they are made of "unobtainium"...:(

I'd really probably go with the Eddystone mfg Enfield pattern 1917 [aka P-17] .30-06 sporter that I have sitting around doing nothing......

I used to have one built on a Springfield '03 action (Kodiak1 owns it now)
Loved the caliber but I thought the action could have been a bit smoother.
I like to own another 300 H&H if I could find one in an early FN.

If you are looking for the best bang for the $$ look for a M-17. Just needs rechambering, bolt face work and a bit on the feed rails. For others besides the ones already mentioned anything already in 375 H&H that needs a new barrel. A Ruger M77 in 300WM or 338WM can also be made to work with a bit of smithing.

I agree, also a rebarrelling of the P14 is a good move!

.330h+h

I had one built based on a Remington M1917 (ok P-17), barreled/action with a P14 bolt. Turned out quite nicely I must say, but keep in mind that custom work is expensive. When all was said and done I have about $2,000 into mine.
I'll post some pics later.

Didn't you snag that nice pre-64 from Pullen's?
