300 Holland and Holland

Recently, I have been conducting load development with one of my 300 H&H's. I'm using Nosler brass, 165 gr. Nosler BT, Federal 215M. Out of two powders, it likes H-4350. I have five groups of three shots, all on the same target, from .535" to .955". Development will continue, to shrink groups by seating depth. Top velocities averaged 3,214 fps. Absolutely no signs of pressure.

I have one in a Win 1885 Shot Show special Safari version, came with cheap buckhorn irons on it. Knocked the back sight out and put a 4.5-14 Z800 Zeiss conquest on it with Leupold rings, comes out at 10lb 2oz. Little heavy to carry very far, but sweet to shoot, and that 28" bbl swings beautifully offhand. Used it this yr on a couple of whiteys. At the time I got it I tried some 180gr Hornady "african" ammo in it (interbonds) and it shot MOA down to 3/4MOA, so, bought a bunch more of the same lot, seeing as I needed brass anyway. Think it was 2955fps with that ammo. It's good enough that I haven't bothered loading for it yet. Have tons of 30 cal bullets and plenty of suitable powders, but, I'll use the factory stuff for now, til it runs out. It's a great gun, hadn't used in in long enough, I'd forgotten how nice it shot and how nice it swung offhand.
